If there is a singular territory in Asturias, there is no doubt that it is Noreña. Villa Condal, the only municipality with this status in the region, is divided into five small territories scattered within the council of Siero, in the heart of Asturias.
This route takes us from this stately village, via Espiniella and Celles/Ceis, to Felguera de Noreña, the northernmost area of the municipality, from where we can enjoy views not only of Noreña, but also of Siero and beyond.
This is undoubtedly a scenic route, to contemplate the Aramo in the distance, to enjoy a bird's eye view of this central area of Asturias, getting lost along small local roads that take us from the village to the rural hamlets between pastures, cows and bushes, with small native fauna and buzzards that watch from their watchtowers for the appearance of small rodents.
A peaceful walk or bike ride with the family.
Noreña - La Felguera de Noreña 5,2
This simple route starts in Noreña, specifically from the Town Hall, where we can park our car in the immediate vicinity. Leaving the bandstand to our left, we start our way out of the town, passing through the Plaza de la Constitución and the Plaza de la Cruz; we continue along the Calle de Pedro Alonso, which forks after 450 metres, and take the left-hand branch to the Camino del Peregrino (Pilgrim's Way).
About 300 metres further on, we turn right onto Calle de las Cabañas, along which we continue until we reach kilometre 1.35, where we must cross the AS-246 road with great care and continue along the path that we find in front of us.
After 1.8 kilometres, the path forks, and we choose to take the turning on the right and continue straight on until we reach the village of Espiniella, kilometre 2.2. On reaching this village, take the first path that appears on the left and continue along it for 300 metres.
At this point, we turn off again to the right and then to the left, and continue straight on, ignoring the crossroads that appear, until we reach kilometre 3.7, where we shall have to cross the AS-I through an underground tunnel.
Leave this tunnel behind and take the path that runs parallel to the AS-I road; a few metres further on, turn right and you will reach the village of Celles/Ceis, kilometre 4.3. Leaving the village, a few metres further on, at the first crossroads, take the path on the left, kilometre 4.7, and shortly afterwards you will reach the end of the route, Felguera de Noreña.
