PR113
Progress has led mankind to try to dominate nature in order to obtain more and new resources, and with it a change in the landscape, sometimes creating beautiful images such as those we see in the calm waters of the Doiras reservoir, in the municipality of Illano.
The route, which is about 14 kilometres long, runs through natural woodlands of carob trees, as well as pine and eucalyptus plantations, and also takes us to the terraced vineyards of the village of Llanteiro.
But, without doubt, its most outstanding point is the suspension bridge over the reservoir, where the cormorants perch and from where we can see the forests reflected in the calm waters or, if we watch calmly at dusk, the fish jumping for insects that fly over the water.
And what can we say about the spectacular views that the route offers us once we have passed Eilao, looking out over its rooftops, from the reservoir to the sky.
Folgueiróu - Folgueiróu 14,4
This circular route starts at the Folgueiróu recreational area, where we start the route by taking the track on the right, which is marked by a signpost, and leaving the swimming pool and the football pitch to the left. A few metres further on, there is a path that turns off to the left, but we continue down the track.
A kilometre and a half after starting the route, we come to another turning to the left, but we continue straight on until we reach kilometre 4, where we come to the suspension bridge on our left. The track continues, but we must cross the bridge. Once we have crossed the suspension bridge over the Doiras reservoir, we shall take the path towards Llanteiro along a dirt track.
At approximately kilometre 5.5 we come to a road, where we should take the left-hand branch, which continues straight on to Llanteiro. A kilometre further on, we reach the village of Llanteiro, known for its abundant vineyards and where we can also find the small chapel of San José. Once we have visited the village, we turn around and return along the same route.
After 9.300 kilometres, we cross the suspension bridge again and turn right, taking us back to the road at the start of the route. A kilometre further on, take the path to the left, which has a steep climb and takes you to Illano.
After another kilometre, turn right and you will find yourself in the village of Eilao. A few metres further on, we turn left between some houses and at the next crossroads we continue straight on and come out onto the village road.
We have already walked about 11.5 kilometres of the route when we find ourselves in the village of El Villar, and we continue along the road that goes uphill. After a few metres, 400 metres, there is a turning to the right that would take us to the neighbourhood of A Grandelía, but we continue straight on. At the next turn-offs we come across, we carry out the same manoeuvre, continuing on our way.
At kilometre 14.2 we come to a junction with the Pastur road, and after a few metres we are back in the Folgueiróu recreational area, the starting and end point of our route.
